Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson of the Wisconsin Supreme Court recently reached a significant milestone, becoming the longest-serving supreme court justice in Wisconsin history. Abrahamson was appointed to the Court in 1976 and reelected to later terms by popular vote. She became chief justice in 1996. When first appointed, Abrahamson became the first woman to serve as a justice on Wisconsin’s high court, which today features four women and three men.
